Hi supermongoose
I think mine got lost not yours.
I remarked that the birds you had wrong was difficult ones for a hatchling
So i thought that you well
The bb was very misleading with its black bill, short at that, as well as it's short tail feathers
Very view people had this correct.

Thanx Sky! :D :D :D

When I saw the the white spots on the BB, I thought it right, but then the bill was a mistery, know I know what a young one looks like.

I'm really learning a lot, specially when you post the answers with the explanations.

I'm of to KNP on the 21st and will be back around the 8th of April
So if someone else want to take over for a couple of weeks feel free
I'm not sure if I will be able to do this from Satara. So next week will be the last challenge until I get back
I will try and do a Satara sighting TR if at all possible

Enjoy Sky 22 - Happy paging

Hi Ducklings
Here are the answers to Sky 21

1 ) A small pale duck with a slightly upturned pink bill
Image

2) Knob billed duck (Comb duck)
Has large laterally compressed knob on forehead
Image

3) Glossy Ibis
Small slender Ibis. Head , neck and shoulders dark chestnut. Rest of plumage has a metallic purple and green sheen.
Image

4) Maraboe Stork
Image

5) Palmnut Vulture
Most likely to be confused with African Fish Eagle but has conspicuous pink or pink-orange facial skin and white wing coverts
Image

6) Pel's fishing Owl
Rufuos colour , earless head, dark brown eyes
Image

7) Shaft tailed Whydah
Tawny yellow underparts and long narrow flagtipped tail distinctive
Image

8 ) Striped Pipit
Heavily streaked breast distinguishes it from other pipits
Image

9) Juvenile Fish Eagle
Takes 4 to 5 years to reach adult plumage. Each succesive moult leads to a gradual 'neating' of plumage, with white areas becoming cleaner, dark areas more uniform.
Image

10) Wood Owl - no problems here
Image

and the BB a Spike heeled Lark
Male heavier than the female with a longer bill. It's upright stance, white tips to short darkish tail and a long slightly curved bill are key features.

Hi Sky! :hello:

You will put up Sky 23 next week, then you are off to KNP! Enjoy! Have a safe journey and lots of wonderful sightings!

You will be able to post from Satara, the connection is not that bad from there! But, as per your PM to barryels a while ago, he will assist you by putting up challenge #24 on 22 March 2013, with the answers on 29 March 2013! Hope this will help? :D
