Congratulations barryels!

Sorry Sky, I will not be able to submit answers this week! You know I appreciate your hard work, but I simply don't have the time this week, and next week we're not here anyway! :(

Hi All,

This looks like fun. How do I play? Wait for answers and mark myself or PM the answers?

I presume I am allowed to use my books to identify the birds - at least at first?!?!

Welcome Soft Top!

You're quite correct - it is great fun and you're encouraged to use books and electronic media to find the answers which you send via pm to whoever sets the quiz. In this case, it's the hard-working Sky.

Hi Ducklings

Here are the answers to Sky 20

1) Grey Tit (Easily confused with the Ashy Tit)
Robberts says the following
"a misleading name , not as grey as the Ashy Tit. Has buff (not dark grey) flanks and underparts, Brownish (not blue-grey) back and less white on the hind neck
Image

2) Common Quail- This one is larger than a button quail and has a different shaped head
Image

3) Brimstone Canary
"A large thickset canary, heavier billed than the Yellow Canary with a greenish wash to the breast and flanks"
Image

4) Greater Striped swallows
"Larger in size and more finely streaked below than the Lesser Striped
swallow. Pale cheeks where the Lesser has rufous cheeks
Image

5) Squacco Heron - no problems here
Image

6) Laughing dove - no problems here
Image

7) Kelp gull
" A large white heade gull with black mantle, Larger and heavier bill than the Lesse Black-backed gull. Legs usually yellow-green"
Image

8 ) African wattled Lapwing - No problems here

Image

9) Black Winged Pranticole
"Easily confused with the collared pranticole. Key features are black underwing coverts.
Image

10) South African Cliff-Swallow
"Similar to striped swallows. Breast mottled(not streaked) and crown usually brownish"
Image

and the BB
A Juvenile Wood-Hoopoe

Woo hoo - 8/8 on Hatch 4

First go at this - absolutely stoked.

Just submitted my answers in on Sky 21. Keeping fingers crossed as I am barely a duckling, more like and eggling at present.

Hi supermongoose
I think mine got lost not yours.
I remarked that the birds you had wrong was difficult ones for a hatchling
So i thought that you well
The bb was very misleading with its black bill, short at that, as well as it's short tail feathers
Very view people had this correct.
