Welcome to the Bird Challenge 08/2015

Let's call it the black and white one with a bit of red - Maybe not that difficult at least in identifying the birds but this time I want to know a bit more about the birds. Therefore only 5 birds to deal with - Have fun and good luck!

Please no scientific essays you can keep your answers short - I will not be that strict :thumbs_up:

Bird No. 1

2.) The picture shows a male in breeding plumage, describe the plumage of the non breeding male.
3.) Describe their breeding behaviour
4.) Of what birds does a breeding group usually consist? And is the male bird monogamous?
5.) Describe the flight pattern of the male bird in display

3.) Describe the difference of the appearance between female and male
4.) Describe the nest and where is it build
5.) How does this bird forage?

For challenge 7, I expected 2 of the 3 that I had incorrect to be wrong. The 3rd one surprised me a little, so I will have to look at this one.

Also lookng forward to the next challenge - certainly requires a bit more investigation, and will be an awesome learning opportunity!

I hope Pumbaa had more participants than I had at the Ducklings challenge! These never ending long weekends during the first few months of the year definitely take their tolls on the challenges! :tongue:

Kindly note that Bird ID Challenge #9/2015 will be posted by Barryels on Friday, 1 May 2015, with the answers to be submitted by 15 May 2015.

Remember, this very interesting book is up for grabs if 20 'mites participate in these challenges!

Sorry Pumbaa, I don't think I shall time to answer your very interesting challenge :( as we are in Ouma en Oupa mode following three weeks Sanparking..........
