We always refer to him as the happiest bird in the park :) He's also known as the 'Joburg Joller' He sounds like a local walking along with a radio on his shoulder whistling along to the tune.
Lovely bird quite difficult to find but easy to hear.

Manzi a trails ranger at BnD calls one of them, have to hear their sound they make, the Catherine Zeta Jones Bird.

"I am so beautifulllll... soooo beautifulllll" is the syllable it is singing.

Hello,
I'm a bit confused about this one. After studying my bird books my guess is Red-backed Shrike but I'm not sure at all :hmz:
I saw this fellow on the road from Pretoriuskop to Skukuza in May this year.

Thanks in advance for your help

I'm sure it's a Tchagra, looks like Black-crowned. Some pics are on my website of both.

Cheers

Niall.
