I'd go with abdim's stork as well. Their legs seem to be too long for a crow. :hmz:

Thanks for the ID PL -

I have another bird to confirm ID please? Is it flamingoes? Do they even visit this area?

Image

there is another pic 30 seconds earlier with 2 birds also in the waterhole (this is why I think it could be flamingo, because Secretary birds seem to be always on the edge)

Again at Nossob?

JJ

Hi JJ,

Looks like a White Stork. The bill is way too big for a flamingo.

Barcud thanks for this info - :D

Are they passing through this area or do they migrate here to arid/semi desert places in the European winter - if I have got the right species the European White Stork?

Hi JJ,

Yes, it's the European White Stork. They spend the Northern Winter in South Africa. From the maps, I see they are less common in the West than the rest of SA.

Is this perhaps a Black-Chested Snake-Eagle? :hmz:

Hi Tilandi,

I would go for Martial Eagle as this is a big bird.

No problem Tilandi, it helps me to learn your birds, so I'm benefiting from trying to ID them.

Looking at the pics before this particular one, I'd say, they're both marabous.

Hi Lionspoon

The Marabou does not have the long tail?

The pics before this one were at 9:06 and 9:11 this was was 30 minutes later at 9:36.

In my bird book it looks like a blue crane to me?
