Got mine in winter time in Mosselbay! The aloes itself are something to see at that time of the year.

Thanks Justin, I haven't seen them there before ( BUT I might have been too busy looking out for the Milkweed Locusts)

So I think I'll try and face these locust again today, as I really want to see these sunbirds. :? Have seen a White bellied Sunbird there 2 weeks ago in the parking area....

As for the seeing the bird at Walter Sisulu. True. It was present the two previous years but there was no sighting of it this year. We've been there a few times during winter and did not manage to find it once. We also haven't heard of anyone else spotting it this year.

Under-wing most sunbirds keep their chaffing feathers hidden. Sometimes, on auspicious occasions, it is popped out in a stunning display. I thought these images show the "normal" and display postures brilliantly. When you have a sunbird in-the-hand, it is possible to gently flick these feathers forward to give an idea what the display would look like.
