I agree with WTM on the African Goshawk.

Any chance this was seen around Lake Panic or Skuks? I found two juvenile African Goshawks at Lake Panic in Feb.

Hello everyone,

I was hoping you could help me identify this bird. It looks like a raptor, or maybe a vulture?
I saw it a week ago in Postberg in the West Coast National Park. I've looked through my bird book but can't find anything with such an obvious yellow spot!

Thanks!

The yellow spot is a patagial tag (Used for identification) RUG and the bird looks like a White-headed Vulture, but I am no expert so best wait for someone who really knows!

Welcome to the forum RUG.

Do you have any more and clearer pictures?

AFAIK there are no vultures in WCNP. Jackal buzzards, black harriers yes and maybe African harrier hawks.

Salamanda, thank you for explaining the yellow bit!

Bush Baptist, I used full zoom on my camera (140 times!) so the other images I have are of the same quality. I've uploaded them in maximum resolution under this link:

I looked at your link RUG, and it looks to me like a sub adult jackal buzzard.

Next time please walk 2 km closer and you need not zoom so much.

Just kidding

Photographed in the West Coast National Park on 7 September 2014.
