Ya I read about it on the rare bird report earlier. These White-throated Bee-eaters are pretty hard to twitch though, but if another report of it comes through then I'll be on my way there.

Excuse my ignorance, but please allow me 2 questions if I may...

Firstly, what exactly is the bbm sightings group...? I did not know that such a thing exists... who runs this? What news is this group broadcasting...?

Secondly, where is the photo of this sighting? Is it viewable anywhere? I am not aware of any photos available of this bird and would love to see one...? To the best of my knowledge, the news of this bird was broken on the SA Rare Bird News email group first and was based on a visual description of the bird and not any photos as there were none available.

I'll be leaving from jo'burg, and you're welcome to join me if I go. Now I'm just eagerly awaiting any news on this bird.

Trevor, the bbm sightings group is a group sending Blackberrie IM's (pings) about recent sightings, mostly in Kruger.
But these are more of mammals than birds (as far as I know) so probably not really for you.

I would not suggest anyone rush off after this one at the moment I have pm'd the pic to trevor lets see what he has to say first as most rare bird sightings cross his desk. The pic posted was from the web and does not confirm the sighting. I havent heard of any further sightings of this bird has anyone else.
