Saw the Drakensberg Sisken in Lesotho a week ago and the Brown-backed Honeybird in the Vredefort Dome Yesterday on Birding big day trip.

My list is up to 506.

My target 200, mmmnnhhhhn,,..
had a good trip to Kruger with many
sightings, I was very comfortable in
assuming that my target was reached!!

My target reached finally!!!!... till.......
lingering still this double take on a Fish eagle..

Are you sure about the last one "Egyptian Vulture" ??? that would constitute an extreme rarity, and the return of the species to Southern Africa?

You still got a few more days to make it past 200 for the year.

Added Flappet Lark last weekend to push me to 490

I think my target of 500 may have to wait until 2013

That Egyptian Vulture also had me excited but I think that these are now listed as "Regionally Extinct" in Southern Africa.

H.erectus you wouldn't happen to have a photo of the bird? Because if it is one you will cause another stampede to Kruger..... That would be the mega rarity of the summer.....

Just remembered pondering in hindsight about a
lovely trip, I totally forgot/overlooked that famous
owl in Tsendze. Elinah was my bird guide.

I believe I was staring at a juvenile Gyp vulture.
The long feathers at the back of the head, together
with the slender beak, welll....

Prior to that a rather large vulture, yellow in color
left it's perch! This sighting happened close to
Balule.

634 with Collared Flycatcher

Up to 561 with the additions of Melodious Lark at Vlaklaagte and White-backed Night-Heron at Mabusa both yesterday, and Collared Flycatcher in Randburg this morning

Wow, Collared flycatcher!!! do you have a picture???

Check out the images of both hooded vulture and juvenile bateleur. Both can have the "egyptian vulture" like appearance.
