I have just spent the last weekend in the southern KNP and saw a number of raptors that I have not been able to identify and would like some help.

The first is this owl, a toss up between a Pearl Spotted and a Barred Owlet. I am leaning towards the latter. It did not call during the time we saw it and I was also not able to see the false eyes at the back of the head.

I have a few more of Falcon/ Kite type birds which I will try to ID before posting for confirmation if I am allowed.

Thanks for all your patience and help for a real birding Rookie!

I havn't tried but have heard that if you play a recording of its call you will attract lots of other birds that will come to chase it away, has anyone tried this.
