Habitat: Woodland, savanna, forest edge, urban and suburban areas, open grassland; usually at lower elevations.
Habits: In pairs when breeding; otherwise in flocks often with other swifts and swallows.
Forages over woodland or grassland.
Flight more agile and darting than that of Greater striped swallow, but not as quick as that of Eurasion swallow and with more gliding.
Highly vocal when flying and when perched, often perching on wires or leafless twigs on tree tops.
Food: Aerial arthropods; arils of Acacia cyclops seeds.

They have nests in the rafters of the rondavels at Addo. They sit on the rafters briefly at evening and then fly off and return. I think they are annoyed at the squatters who inhabit the rondavels for a few days at a time!

I'm thinking that these are lesser striped swallows? I saw them in Bontebok National Park on 3 October 2009.

These birds had a nest at our hut in Biyamiti. Was very nice to hear them the whole time we were there.

I have them perching anually, fact is what am I
looking at!??? These pictures show a definite bold
streaking below??? When we refer,- Lesser or greater,-
is the bird bigger or smaller, or maybe is the streaking
of the chest lesser or greater???
It cannot be made more or less for that matter but it can be altered to suit.- The universe.

Saw these two in November 2011 in the Kruger National Park.

Hi everyone. Just returned from Kruger and clueless about some of my bird sightings as usual. Any help identifying these would be appreciated. All pictures were taken in February.

4. Near Berg En Dal- A lesser striped swallow?
