Thanks for your post, Hippotragus  and the corrections you made to the marketing text. I couldn't believe the "10 minutes from the main gate". Even to Tlopi you need more than 30 minutes. And the position of the picture I made of the signpost is an additional 10 minutes from Tlopi. Plus 5 kms to Motswere makes the 1 hr you mention...
Did you have to drive to Tlopi to report the problems or did you have coverage with the cellphone (which can sometimes be difficult in Tlopi Camp)?
Did you make any photos that you can post?

Hi mh_baer. The cellphone reception (Vodacom) was very up and down! We did manage to phone the Gate Office to get the guys out.

I don't really have pics, but I think someone from SANParks is going to post some soon. The house itself is not "pretty" - it is a plain old farmhouse, but they have equipped it very well.

We are going to stay at Motswere next weekend but read scary stuff on Hellopeter abou it. Apparently there are brokens winndows, a broken kettle, no bulbs in the lamps and not clean. Can anyone confirm that this is not the case? We're going with 2 little children and need these things to be fixed/working.

Dear Innekemorris,

Many thanks for the query. Those issues relate to an earlier complaint a few months ago and have been addressed. You should be fine. Kindly feedback me at joep.stevens@sanparks.org on your experience?

With kind regards.

JOEP STEVENS

We have just returned from Motswere Guesthouse at Marakele and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We do feel there are wonderful opportunities to give the place more character but besides the access road which was appalling to say the least (and we had a 4x4), it is a lovely getaway for a group of people. You can visit it with a happy heart.

We stayed at Motswere for the past weekend and fell in love with not only Marakele but also the cottage! It was in immaculate condition and had everything that we needed. My 2 year old son had a ball riding his little plastic motorbike up to the main gate and back for hours on end and we spend most of the day sitting on the big stoep enjoying the fantastic view of the mountains and bush. We even had an elephant bull come greet us during our first evening braai....10m away from where we were standing (luckily behind the fence!) and also heard lions and saw prints around the camp.
We will definitily visit again...thanks to SANPARKS for keeping this place so neat and really impressing us this weekend. PS -the road to the cottage is not that bad anymore either.
