That's great, Netek. Is the farm road as clearly marked if travelling in the opposite direction (towards Musina), as I may be later this year?

There is no other turn-off other than the Weipe turn-off. Just follow the Weipe dirt road. It will bring you back onto the tarred road after approximately 16km. You cannot go wrong. Also have a look on Google Earth. The dirt road and the farm are clearly visible. :)

Thanks JohanK yes there's only the one road and it clearly mark. When going in the oppisite direction same instruction just turn left not right . There's a oil drum in the road at the turn off from the other side as well. Once on the dirt road you will see you follow the main stream of the road the only turn off from the dirt (farm road) leads to houses.

Thanks NetEk and JohanK for clarifying. Sounds easy enough -- and perhaps the bridge might be repaired by November?

Hi
We are visiting Mapungubwe (Limpopo Tented Camp) for the first time at the end of May. According to the photos on the website, the tents look to be better equipped than Sanparks advised when we booked. Can anyone advise us on what facilities are actually provided, i.e. Crockery and Cutlery, Fridge, availability of firewood, etc. As we only have a normal car, we don't have a lot of space to bring extra equipment.

Thanks in advance
MartinP

From Alldays the road is fine has pot holes so just don't drive to fast when you leave alldays and hear the call of the wild (my husband always says when he leaves Alldays he can allready smell the camp fire and tend to go to fast)

Thanks for the advice on the Alldays road. We are going to Punda Maria after Mapungubwe. Which is the best way to get there? We will be in an ordinary car, not a 4x4.

I'm not familiar with the road from Map to Punda but up to Muzina you will be able to use a car.

Dankie, NetEk vir die inligting oor diepad vanaf Alldays.

Regarding the route from Mapungubwe to Punda Maria via Messina: According to my map there is a tarred road from Messina to Tshipise, numbered R508. From there I would take the R525 to the Pafuri entrance gate of the Kruger National Park. I have travelled that a long time ago and if the tarred road has deteriorated as many others have, I can imagine that, unless repair work was done, there could be many potholes. So one should drive carefully. Punda Maria is the most northern camp of the Park. I hope this helps.

Hi everyone. I am planning another visit to Mapungubwe in the near future. last wek I picked up that the hide in the Western section has been closed due to the flooding. Can any one tell me whether it is still closed?
My last visit was in 2010 and I really enjoyed the hide, I like to take pics and the birdlife was fantastic.

bump

A very warm welcome to you Albie. :gflower: You are going to one of my favorite destinations. I am bumping this thread in the hope that someone can help you.

Unfortunately I have not had the pleasure of visiting for some time, but I do hope one of our members has.
