Unread postby Hannes P » Wed Nov 11, 2009 3:16 pm

Dear Green people,

Can any of you supply me with the site layout of the caravan and tent area at Storms river. I got a fax from them but can hardly see anything. Maybe someone can send me the url for the site-layout.

Looking at it carefully it seems as if that one is a scan of the one on the main page. So perhaps DQ can get a better one.

The scanned map that was uploaded is identical to the map on the website that Dotty linked to.
The scan is just the left-most part of the online map.

Online map (sorry for size, don't have the tools to resize, this is how it appears on Sanparks website):

Thanks for the feedback. Did not have a proper look at Dotty's attachments. I will save that link and crop the first part of the park.

Till later guys & girls. Regards - Hannes

Hi
This is not the map you are looking for, but maybe it help to give you an idea of what to expect.

This is campsite 26/27 on map
Image

This is the row next to the sea and closest to the Oceanettes
Image

If I must pick, I will go for the 26/27 area - close to swimming pool for kids and close to ablution.

Don't expect any protection from the elements (sun and wind), but prepare yourself for the sound of the waves and even some sea spray. All sites are grassed with the actual standing area brick paved. each have a braai area.

The tent area is to the right (east - closer to river mouth) of campsite 26/27 on the map and marked as such.

Hope this help. Regards Johan

Thanks for the pics Johan. I have not camped there before. Got a reference number for power without sea view. How are the stands issued? First come first served for the sites or a specific stand number which does not reflect on the booking?

Hi Hannes P

I am not familiar with the booking system for camping, but for the other accommodation all bookings are done centrally in Pretoria, but the actual allocation of the units are done by the individual parks. My advice would be that you phone Stormsriver Mouth and discuss your specific allocation of camping site with them. (+27 (0)42 281 1607). If anyone can change it, it will be them. They can also give you the best indication of the actual location of your site.

Hi Hoephoep

Are you sure about the nr's (26/27)? According to the camp layout map that is 36/37 - 36 being the one where the caravan is.

I am going there this weekend and have requested 36/37 from the map and would hate to have chosen the wrong site.

Regards
Helen

Hi Helen

JAMMER!! (Sorry)

The map is so small and the eyesight not what it use to be, it is indeed 36/37.
Sorry for that. Please take some photo's of the new bridges and post them under the Stormsriver Photo tread.

Enjoy your stay.

I have camped there a few times. Last year what I did was write down the numbers of the sites that I liked the best.
I am going back there in 5 weeks time for 4 days and as soon as I got my confirmation of payment from Pretoria I phoned the park and got them to allocate me the site I wanted. This time I have a caravan site.

The actual campsites with power and no view are a bit small and not very level, which is what I had booked last time, so what I did was move to one of the campsites with a view and supposedly no power, which were much bigger. Here is a secret bit of information. Amongst these were a couple that actually did have power (Sites 110 and 112).
