There's a day in our family's upcoming coastal adventure when we move from Tsitsikama NP (Natures Valley Rest Camp) to Wilderness NP (Ebb & Flow Rest Camp), and we thought we'd hire canoes on that day.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to whether it's better to canoe down the river to the coast at Natures Valley, or to canoe up-river to the waterfall walk at Wilderness?
They both sound like lovely places to mess about on a canoe.

Hi Roger. I am sure you have already been welcomed to the forum but welcome from me too.
Some additional info - We have just come back from spending two days (last weekend) at Wilderness NP and hired a canoe for 3 hrs - cost R180.00. If you want to hire if for the day it will cost you R250.00. (Eden Adventures)
You also have to pay the applicable Park conservation fees if not staying in the Park - which won't apply to you.
The trip up to the waterfall is lovely especially the birdlife. I am always on the lookout for Kingfishers - trying to spot as many different ones as I can - this time only saw Malachite KF. It's also nice to pack a little "hamper" of munchies and some juice to have either at the spot where you park your canoe or at the waterfall itself. This time we did not go on up to the waterfall but have done so in the past. It is a relatively easy walk and really worth it.
We also explored the river towards the mouth which with all its reeds reveals another host of birdlife.
Cannot comment on the Natures Valley trip as we have not done it before but whatever you decide - Enjoy.
