Greetings All

Finally the lions are out of the Bomas. They are free to roam the park as they please.

The first free roaming lion in more than a 100 years in the Cradock area.

They have since moved onto the big dam wall on the Unjane loop and are chasing everything that walks past.

Hi everyone
So far all is going well with the lions. They caught a red hartebeest on Saturday morning and then showed off to lucky visitors on the Ubejane Loop on Saturday afternoon.
The lioness has gone off on her own and was seen on the Link Road on Sunday.

Thought you might like to see some more pics from the release, just after the lions left the boma:

Thanks MZ. Glad they have settled down so nicely! I wonder whether the lioness will return to join the other two?

Thank you so much for this update! Wonderful news. I think visitors here might have more chance to see the lions compared to Karoo NP.

Hi Mountain zebra,

Thanks very much for the updates and the pictures. I have one question, and I am hoping you will help put my mind at ease. When I was at the park last month (which I really loved), I noticed that the fence around the camp is quite low (a lot lower than that at Kruger or even Addo for example), but did have a different design to the normal fence.

I am sure the fence is safe, I just want to put my mind at ease that it is. Can you please share with us the thinking around how it was ascertained that a "lower" fence in comparison to the "norm" would be safe.

Kind regards,

Pat
