Hi there 'mites :hello:

Great news!! Camdeboo National Park, which surrounds the town of Graaff-Reinet in the Eastern Cape, will open its long-awaited Nqweba Campsite on 1 March 2012.

The campsite, which is located on the floodplains of the Nqweba Dam, offers fifteen sites for caravans or tents with a maximum of six people allowed on each site. Each site has a power supply and braai unit, while the centrally located communal kitchen conveniently provides a deep freeze, microwave and stove plates for campers and caravanners. The campsite’s communal ablutions provide shower and toilet facilities and are universally accessible.

Please read here for the full media release. :D

Not Lesego  , but please read here , MM :

Quote:
“We need 120 karee (Rhus lancea) trees to plant in the campsite area to ensure that visitors who use the facility will be comfortable in the shade,” said Burdett. Planting trees also contributes to improving the state of the environment through carbon sequestration, oxygen production and the provision of shelter and food for wildlife.

One 1.3-metre high karee tree costs R110, leading to a total R13 200 project cost. Each visitor or business who donates one or more trees will be issued with a certificate commemorating their contribution to the Camdeboo National Park.

The first time I took note of this area was stopping at Nieu Bethesda. "Indeed", I thought, "this is a place of mystery".

There are places that defy definition. I found Mount Zebra left me thinking of "soul country". I look forward to visiting this special place.

I'll visit when it's a little bit cooler.

Cannot wait.

Will be staying over on the 24th & 25th of March on our way to the Karoo Nat Park. We have been waiting so long for this site to open and I hope we won't be dissappointed.
