Just back from an amazing two nights at Mountain Zebra. What a park, great!
Nice temperature for camping, not too cold at night, great sightings (even the Buffalo's), nice food in the restaurant and receptionists who take pride in serving guests with a big smile

Even more challenging if you have a VERY nervous passenger squealing and screaming at every turn, climb and crossing! Well worth it though!!!!!!

The one-way stretch back from Carol's Rest is a bit ropey for a sedan. There is much rock n roll!

We stayed for 3 nights at the family cottages whilst doing the Fish River Canoe marathon. What an amazing part of the world! Our cottage was far more than we expected - very private with breath taking views, and the staff always wore a proud and friendly smile. We shall definitely be back.

Thanks for the compliments, Jonkers and AmbnCleo. I will pass these on to the staff in the Park who don't always get the chance to read this forum.

Megan: I must concur... The guy at the front desk handed us a map when we arrived, then started pointing out to us... "If you want a scenic drive, you should go here" "If you want to see animals, you should go here" "The Cheetahs usually are found in these areas" Etc.
So many other parks they just hand you a map and thats it. Then you look at this maze on a piece of paper and wonder where shall I go first, where will I find animals, where will I get piece and quiet or scenic drives.

We are spending 2 nights in Mtn Zebra this w/end (my first visit!). I'm trying to keep the camping equipment down and was wondering if the following is available at the main camp camping site:

- stove tops like in Kruger? or do we bring our gas stove?
- table & chairs or do we bring our own?
- fridge or freezer facility (to freeze the blue blocks)

I see there's boiling water and a microwave (a microwave!).

We're planning to eat at the restaurant 1 night and braai the other night so I don't want to pack all that luggage if not needed!

Unfortunately no freezing facilities or chairs and tables - so take your own comfy ones with you.

Two plate stoves and small microwave are available in the camp kitchen.

Is it easy to see Cheetah at the Mountain Zebra Nat.park?
Or the Kniphofia acraea?
We will be fairly close, so maybe we should spend a day there,
if we can find a day!

Hi Neil

No it is not easy finding the cheetah - I think there are only 4 or 5. It would be a good idea to speak to one of the section rangers (just ask at reception), they might be able to tell you which areas they frequent. Same goes for the Kniphofia.

2 Litters of cheetah cubs born in MZNP. 4 cubs to each female.
I think it was 4 weeks and 6 weeks old.

Let's hope they all survive
