Hi Andre,
Apologies  for not having seen your post in time for your visit!
I do have a reptile list for the Park and can send it to anyone who sends me their email address (@Andre).
I will also get it onto the website soon.

If I book the 4x2 mountain cottage at Mt Zebra are you guaranteed to have it exclusively . We are two adults. What rate would we be charged?

Yes Jen, if you book the mountain cottage you won't share it with any other guests. The mountain cottages can be booked for either the 3day hike or for those who don't want to hike but want a more secluded experience and have high clearance vehicles (you have to drive over some bumpy rocks to get there).

Two of the bedrooms have bedding provided (2 single beds plus a double bed) while the 3rd bedroom has bunk beds (6) with mattresses for which you need to bring your own bedding.

Hello all!

I'll be visiting Mountain Zebra for the first time this month all on my lonesome

I'm camping for two nights and I'm fully prepared for it to be FREEZING! Two quick questions:

-Is there a boiling water urn/zip in the camp kitchen for filling thermos flasks and hot water bottles (!) or should I plan to pack an electric kettle?

-I'm hiring a little sedan car, are there any sections of road I should avoid right now? Because it's just me I don't want to risk getting stuck!

Any other thoughts you have would be awesome. I'm hoping to book on an evening drive with fingers crossed for an aardwolf, although the SO would probably kill me for seeing one without him...

Hello Koru

A kettle in Mountain Zebra's camp site kitchen, so you needn't worry about packing one.

You can drive with your normal vehicle on the Park's tourist roads. 4x4's required for the 4x4 loops, though.

Enjoy your stay.

Enjoy your visit, it's a stunning park!!

Hi Fayroush and lion queen,

Thanks very much! I'm really looking forward to the trip. I hope I can be as lucky as you with the mid-afternoon aardwolf, lion queen! What a wonderful experience.

I have not visited Mt Zebra since 2000.
I would like to know if the regular visitors would recommend a night drive to see nocturnal animals. I am a regular Kruger visitor but look forward to see some different nocturnal creatures.
Any advice?

:yaya: Are there any news regarding the progress of the restoration of the Doornhoek house that was damaged by a fire some time ago?

Regarding the Doornhoek Guest House, Park Management had to follow the process of claiming from the insurance and then appointing a suitably qualified architect, which has taken some time.

An architect with heritage experience has since been appointed and has drawn up plans for the rebuilding of the guest house in the same original style. Plans have been submitted to the SA Heritage Resources Association for approval before rebuilding can commence.

I trust this answers your query.

Kind regards,
