Hello again dear formites!

Now that we have our international flight booked, we can finalize our itinerary for our next trip to South Africa.

We'll be starting of in George:
- 4 nights garden route (camps tbd) - would 4 nights in storms be too long? (we do not want to pack and unpack every day :-))
- 2 nights Addo -Mathyolweni RC (booked)
- 4 nights Addo - main camp (booked)
- 5 nights MZNP (booked)
- 1 or 2 nights Cambdeboo (what's best 1 or 2?)
- 3 nights Karoo National Park (Afsaal) cottage. Should I add a night or so at the main camp as well or stay only 2 nights at Afsaal and 2 in the main camp?

and then we have another 5 to 6 nights before we fly out of George.
I was thinking about the Baviaanskloof - this area has been intruiging we since I first heard about it 20 years ago (apparently the 'wild' part belongs to Sanparks - I didn't know that) - what would you suggest 2 or three nights?
Any suggestions for the last two nights before we head back home (flying out of George)?
All suggestions are welcome!

Oh wow I'm  about this trip!!!

My personal opinion about Stormsrivier is that 4 nights might be a bit long! Maybe 2 nights Natures Valley and the 2 nights Storms???

Camdeboo 2 nights.........in the past I've to many times seen you think that one night is enough because you'll get there early and have a look round and then things work out differently.

Karoo I would do 2 nights Afsaal and 2 nights Maincamp.

I do hope that you'll have a great trip!!

Karoo National Park main camp is one of SANParks gems, it really is one of the best run camps. No doubt in my mind that you should do 2 nights here.

I am also green over your itinerary. I wish I could do that. You will be visiting some of our favourite parks.

Hi Frizzle

You do not say which time of the year you are planning to visit. Or I have missed that. Storms River is beautiful and very central so you can easily enjoy the surrounding area, taking a drive to Knysna for a day trip for eg; walking in the forests etc; or enjoying the beach.

Baviaanskloof, is not SANParks at all. But there is so much in that area to enjoy.

I agree, split your time in Karoo, and also give yourself enough time in Camdeboo.

Thanks a lot everyone for your helpful advice!

We'll arrive in George on 18/4 and 'slowly' work our way around - we prefer to see less places and spend more time at each - that's why we don't include Cape Town and surrounds in our itinerary and keep that for a next time ..

April can be lovely and mild on the coast, but winter has started by then, so can also be cold, particularly inland. Nice :D
