Any rain yet?

Heard on the news this morning that Addo has received 55mm of rain over the weekend. The Addo spokesman said that the Addo area has experienced the worst drought in over 100 years.

Yes!!! The rain has come!!! Was in Addo last week. Just after 6 on Thursday morning we had a thunderstorm!! 55 mm in 20 minutes. Went for a drive at 06H30 and could not believe it was the same Addo as the day before. There was puddles of water all over. The dams was overflowing. At some places the drainpipes under the roads could not handle all the water causing the roads to fload. We spend most of the day driving around and did not see even 1 ellie. No need for them to visist the big dams as there was water all over. We camped at T7 and the whole grazing area in front of that tent site turned into a dam. It sounded like a waterfall!

Yes the rain has come. I am sure they will need more as most of the water just drained off, but this will help for now. On the new webcam I can see the grass is turning green. Will be a different Addo now to visit!!

I visited Addo for the first time in way too long this weekend and was very glad to see the greenery coming through all over the park after the recent rains.

From pictures on the Web Cam it looks like lovely rain is busy falling in a very dry region, for which I am sure the game/staff are very thankful..

Yes, angiek, we're happy about the rain although it will take a while for the effects to have an impact on vegetation quality and quantity. And this bout of rain was softer than the last one (which was 55mm of rain in 20 min!) so could soak into the ground a lot better.

It's so great that you don't have to wait for me to confirm it's raining - you can see it yourself on the webcam

Addo, glad to hear it was a gentle rain and not a flood. Was there December and experienced the dry, windy, conditions firsthand. Hopefully there is more rain on the way!!!

What's the latest news? It looked like heavy falls in PE during Saturday night's footballmatch.

I couldn't believe how green the area is in front of the waterhole at Addo. So glad to see that things might be returning to normal after the long drought  .
