Wow, Hapoor- awesome pics

Looks like I might get a little wet in Addo on Sunday. Actually, very wet since on my last camping trip the rain cover on my tent was ripped to shreds by monkeys. Might be testing my new car's trunk capacity and sleeping there instead...

You can always tell the South African from from the tourist when monkeys are in campsites. I was horrified to see South Africans yelling and chasing the monkeys away. Poor, poor monkeys. As a 'tourist', I once found monkeys cute and entertaining, that is, until they start chasing and threatening you, ripping your tent to pieces and breaking into your car. Can I ust make clear I have never fed an animal at a campsite. Boxes of Smarties stolen from cars don't count...

Anyway, rain in Addo. Should be fun!

The BIG thunderstorm was on Saturday afternoon +- (14.40 - 15.00)

We arrived at Addo on that fateful Saturday at 14:00 and had just got the tent pitched when the heavens opened up. Thankfully it didn't last too long and we were able to set up the rest of our camp without further problems.

The Park is still looking quite dry as we haven't had much rain. We did get some rain and quite a dramatic hail storm last Thursday (14/5) and then some more rain on Saturday night (16/5) but not as much as needed.

i was there saturday morning 16/5. addo is getting green. i found some water holes that i have never seen before. obviously the recent rains, but if the big guns say it has not been enough rain i'll believe them.

to me the roads seemed lonely. they were so wet i did not even see one spoor of even a kudu!

How much rain did Addo have over the last few days? We had a lot in PE, so am hoping it stretched inland too.

Don't know what it is with me and the rain! It is raining so beautifully in PE at the moment, I was so hoping someone could tell me if it is raining in Addo too - I know they desperately need the rain??

Hi Henk,

We had a few drops of rain last week and then had a good spell on Sunday. It rained again yesterday evening and clouds are still hanging around in the sky so we are hoping for more (and we really need it).

It's amazing how quickly you see a green flush on the grass after some rain.

Left there (Addo) about 9 am yesterday morning. The park is really desperate for rain. I have not seen it so dry. I do hope some of your rains reached there Carolyn  It was much warmer and more humid in Addo than in PE an hour later.
