BB, the bicornis rhino are managed as a metapopulation within the region (and in cooperation with Namibia where they also occur) to ensure the genetic health of the populations in the Park. Therefore we will introduce new rhino when they become available and depending on how many rhino can be carried by the Park.

The cheetah that were introduced were two unrelated males and two sisters, which means there is already some genetic variation in the population. We will probably need to translocate some of the cheetah to other parks or reserves in the future as the population grows. We also have a different genetic pool of cheetah in Addo's Kuzuko population, so can transfer between the two populations in the future.

Hi there,
wre just back from MZNP,
we drove in, 5 km's after the gate
we saw a beautiful Cheeta with 4 cubs.

Thinking to see great landscape, but nothing like that
the camera wasn't quick enough, I only took few pics.

Hi BeeTee,

You make me jealous! I was hoping to sleep over in MZNP in 2 weeks' time, just to see the cheetahs...
You said there were 4 cubs? Recently we were told there were 6 new cubs (1 mother), so this implies that 2 cubs have died recently -- hope not!

Thanks for the lovely report! Maybe I'll still pop in there on my way to Addo...

God bless

Hi Friedrich,

I'm sorry, but we saw only 4 cubs,
but I can't say, that we really saw everything.

We saw them near the Low Level Bridge
5 km after the entrance gate and they dissapeared so quick,
they was on top of the raod, we were on the bridge.

If the wather is getting better,
you should really drive in !

Greetings,

BeeTee

PS: another question,
are you German ?
Your name sound european.....

Hi BeeTee

Sorry, but I am only 25% German... which is not good enough for Germans!
My Grandfather came from Germany to South Africa, and married an Afrikaans girl, but he died before I was born, so the German got lost somewhere in the Free State...!

Hope you have a wonderful time in South Africa. I hope to sleep over at MZNP next week, and then spend 4 days in Addo, which is very good for lions lately.

Auf wieder sehen,

Friedrich von Hörsten

Hi Friedrich,

I'm 100 % german,
but moved to SA last year and just got my permanent residence.

Addo is wonderful and I wish you a great time there and in ZMNP.

Greetings,

BeeTee

I also took these shots at ZEBRA PARK recently. It looks like this PALE CHANTING GOSHAWK was busy with a snake when we arrived on the scene .When it had finished eating, it took off to a tree near-by.

Hi NickyG :)

Thanks! I think the nest is that of a white-browed sparrow-weaver?
