Whilst we are on the subject of the springboks (the four legged variety as the others are causing too much pain), my SO took these snaps of a springbok with tumbleweed stuck in his horns at MZNP. It was quite funny watching his antics until he managed to get rid of it.

@Salva and NickyG - thanx! :thumbs_up:

@Henk - a unique and interesting pose for a 4 legged springbok! 8)

@Bartman - I think you have hit on something here! :hmz: Perhaps the 'other' bokke have the same problem as your tumbleweed springbok - obstructed vision? :wink: Interesting sighting and glad he managed to get rid of it in the end! :thumbs_up:

Stopped over in MZP on Sunday for the night and were lucky to encounter these two.
Thought we would share.

Stunning!!! :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

Seems like aardwolf sightings are becoming more and more common - I saw 4 sightings (5 individuals) in one morning two weeks ago!!

Thanks for the kind words. :D :D
Both were on the Ubejane loop, Rhino on the side of the dam close to the road, and the aardwolf on the other side of the dam.

We went to MZNP over the weekend. We didn't manage to get any good pics but we did see a bit. 3x Black Rhino, adult cheetah with 3 large cubs, my first aardvark, 2x lone buffalo and the usual buck species.

We did the Sonnenrust 4x4 drive which is where we spotted the aardvark, but we noticed various patches sprayed a blueish colour every now and then. Anybody have any idea what this could be? :huh:

Lovely sightings Bartman :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

The blue spray is MSMA (Monosodium methyl arsenate), a kind of herbicide used to destroy jointed cactus (which is a category 1 alien invasive). It is a common herbicide, which is used for a lot of alien plants, but because of the nature of the jointed cactus (invasive and spreads rapidly) they have to spray the entire plant with the blue MSMA to destroy it. It is part of the Working for Water Programme which removes alien vegetation in natural areas :thumbs_up:

Henk, would loved to have taken a pic but the aardvark was not around long enough to get the camera sorted out etc.. He went over a little ridge and we never saw him again. :cry:
