Does anyone know when the new chalets will be completed and open for bookings?

They are building 4 two bedroom chalets on the right as you come into the camp, on the right of the present no. 4 chalet. The new chalets are slightly more set back from the river and it does not look like they have a river view. They will have aircon, which will be nice in the heat of summer as the present chalets get vrek hot with no aircon!

Thanks.

We were there in winter so vrek hot was not a worry.
I love the new picnic spot.

For the record. We have just had our booking for our Family Chalet (confirmed and paid for) 02/05/14 to - 03/05/14 cancelled because the new chalets are not yet ready for occupation. We were asked if we could change our booking dates to after 05/05/14 -NO! So it would seem that occupation of the new family chalets are only after this date. We ended up changing our booking to include the normal chalets. (At an extra cost of R600!)

Hi Matthys

SANParks did say that the delay in completion of the units had to do with the earlier flooding and excessive rain at Bontebok - so I suppose I should be more understanding  - but Thanks.

 So, as much as I was peeved at having my booking for a family chalet cancelled - due to reasons beyond SANParks control I suppose - I am happy to say that I was more than pleased with my replacement booking of two riverview chalets. (Even though it cost me more). Enjoyed our stay!

Dear All,

We have had terrible luck during the construction of the rest camp. We had flooding in January as well as heavy rains throughout February and March which impacted the completion of the construction. We are glad to announce that construction has been completed and we are currently busy with the furnishing and decoration of the chalets. Expected opening date is by mid July 2014.

For any further question please don't hesitate to contact our reception on 028 514 2735.
