These two were part of a group of four cheetah which we saw twice on our February trip. On both occasions we saw the four attempting to hunt Springbok. Both attempts ended in failure. The consensus was that it was a mother and three youngsters, and it was the youngsters practicing their hunting skills.

wildc - where did you see those? Somewhere around Melkvlei or maybe even further north?

Hi Lionspoor, The first photo was indeed near Melkvlei, but south towards kij kij. The second one was close to Monro.First
pic was on 28th Feb. Second pic on 19th Feb. I think it was the same group on both sightings, one oolder female with three adolescents. On both occasions they were hunting Springbok the youngsters just didn't quite have the patience and the springbok scattered. Great to watch.

Thanks for the additional information, wildc! :D

I'm sure the first photo are two of Elena's three cubs.
Really interesting to see how they are progressing. Well, or rather not, according to what you have to say about their hunting skills. They're now 21 months old and I would expect them to be a bit more skilled by now. :slap:
