Mokala National Park: The Kameeldoorn Tree House

Unread postby CS83 » Wed May 21, 2014 4:14 am

Hello everyone!

I am going to spend two nights at the Kameeldoorn Tree House in Mokala National Park....

Can anyone tell me where exactly the Tree House is located (Is it close to Lilydale camp? GPS coordinates?) and if it is easily accessible? (Do I need a 4x4 or is it also doable with a normal sedan car?)

Many thanks in advance,
Christian :)

Morning CS83,

Welcome to the forums  .

The Kameeldoorn Tree House is situated in the Kameeldoorn loop. You will find a semet dam on your right when you drive along the main road and to the left you will find a No Entry sign where you enter to get to the Tree House.

The personnel at Mosu Lodge where you will have to report before you can depart to the Tree House will give you guidance to get there. The Tree house is approximately 17 Km drive from Mosu Lodge, North along the main road. You will also pass Stofdam on your way.

Here is a link to the Park Map for easy reference.

There is also no need for a 4x4 to visit the Park. A normal sedan is fine.

Enjoy your stay :D . We will be waiting for the trip report when you return  .

Hi,

I am planning a visit to Mokala NP in June , staying at the treehouse. I was wondering if anyone here has stayed there & what they thought of it & if they'd offer any tips for anyone planning to stay there? Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks for the warm welcome! ;-)

And thanks for your help! I was especially interested to hear about the condition of the road that leads to the treehouse (maybe anybody who has already been there could tell me more about it? ;-))

@Sky: I will be there in beginning of March.

Any news on the Tree House?, we will be there 3 nights towards the end of March. There is a small video of it on YouTube but not much else in the way of information. Pen

Hi Penolva and CS83

Please visit and also like the Sanpark - Mokala National Park facebook page. I posted a few pictures of the Tree House recently. The old braai stand was recently replaced with a brand new one.

CS83 it is quite a bumpy ride from Mosu Lodge to the Tree House. I would suggest a 4x4 or 4x2 but a normal sedan will also do the trick.

Regards,
Nadia

OHH thanks Nadia so much. :gflower: That's the most recent pics. Please tell more about the inside set up, how it felt to be out there on your own, which animals you saw at the waterhole, any niggles, any thing we should take that will improve our three nights there???? Any more photographs. Believe it or not these nights will be the last of 33 but we are so looking forward to the tree house  Pen

We are hoping a giraffe comes to eat the tree while we are in bed  that would be amazing. Only eight weeks until we go.
