Good day to All,
My wife & I are planning a trip to Namibia from Mossel Bay during early December 2014 and would like to visit the Namakwa National Park en route. We have unfortunately only one day to stay over in this area. (We are driving a 4X4 but no camping equipment for this trip.)
1. Is it possible to drive from Lutzville to Groenrivier? Is special permission necessary from any authority? Any locked gates? I am planning a route with the help of Tracks-4-Africa and all indications are that it is possible.
2. My next stop would be Springbok. Where should we stay over in this area?
3. If we stay over at Groenrivier, will it be possible to drive though the Wildeperdehoek pass through to Springbok in one day? (we are early risers!)
I would really appreciate your input in planning our trip to this are, not visited before.
Thanking you in advance!
Hi Henrydewet and a warm welcome to the forum...........
There is an entrance gate into Namaqua National Park at Groenrivier. Here you'll need to obtain your permit and pay entrance fees before entering the park.
No problem getting from Lutzville to Groenrivier. No special permission needed.
Do you plan to stay in the Namaqua NP or before you reach the park?
The only option in the park that's not Camping is the Skilpad Camp.
I'll have a look in my Namaqua Guide tomorrow and post more info for you.
Enjoy the trip.........
