We as the public are very quick to complain about the state of facilities in the KTP but on a recent visit (1st to 12th March) it became quite obvious that this was not a staff problem but a tourist one. Really is ones aim that bad that the soiled toilet tissues and other debris can not make it into the bowl? How does toilet tissue end up clogging the urinals? Makes me wonder what sort of human beings visit our parks. Yes it would help if they were serviced more than once a week but if I were staff I would be disgusted at what I have to deal with.

Oh no shame GregM-W, not nice to experience that in our parks!

Sad to say but the ladies sometimes are worse than the gents!!! :slap:

Despite the friendly request to take your garbage WITH you the first thing visitors do is to drop a bag of unwanted emptied plastics and bottles (sometimes nappies) in and around the bin especially in the ladies! I have seen this s many times. Last year I asked an old lady who acted as if she owned the place if it was to much to ask to drop the litter in the next camp they would stay. Although I live in South Africa I do have an accent. The reply was that as a tourist (aren't we all?) I should just accept the way things are in South Africa. I was speechless.

“We are taught you must blame your father, your sisters, your brothers, the school, the teachers ― but never blame yourself. It's never your fault. But it's always your fault, because if you wanted to change you're the one who has got to change.”

Luckily it isn't like that all of the time.

Besides the problem with toilets my other pet hate is 1. Discarded bottles (mainly beer) on the roads in the parks. 2. Smokers debris, yes stompies, all around the camps and stops. 3. Bits of motor vehicles strewn along the roads. I am a smoker although I have not smoked for a few years now and it amazes me that we cant seem to find an ash tray, dust bin or whatever to put our stompies. "I am passionate about wildlife" is the statement while casually flicking a stompie into the air.
I will, where safe, get out and pick up rubbish I see. I believe it is far safer for me to do this than it is to leave it there and risk it doing some harm to the wild life. I would rather risk the fine for being out of the vehicle than leave a tyre casing or major plastic part of a vehicle lying around.
