Thank you in advance. I have been reading earlier forum posts, jotting down ideas. In older posts some members have offered to email lists but when I PM I have not received responses. It would be nice to have a permanent sticky somewhere, maybe there is and I just haven't seen it?

Will be in KTP for 1 week and staying in chalets and tent camps (and a wilderness camp if I am lucky!), driving a rental 4x4 but I don't believe it has fridge, etc. So, will have to rent coolers and lockbox (or buy some such) from the Pick n Pay.

If anyone of you Experts has a master list you keep handy I would certainly appreciate you forwarding it on, as it will help us to double check something we may well have forgotten (or never considered in the first place).

Again, thank you so much.

I can just say that the manager of the Upington Pick n Pay, was so incredibly helpful when we visited KTP.
It was a pleasure to do our shopping there.

I am not a seasoned visitor there, so I will leave others to suggest a shopping list.

Hope you have a wonderful trip.

I think a supplies list would be greatly appreciated by a lot of first-timers (especially those of us travelling from abroad who may not be familiar with the range available in supermarkets is SA) - perhaps if someone posted one here one of the mods could be persuaded to add it to the Kgalagadi FAQ sticky? If there is one that's PMd I'd really appreciate a copy. I'd even be interested to compare more than one - see what things are considered vital by everyone and what fab ideas people have that are unique to them - but maybe that's just me!
Thanks!
Mez

Hi all, thanks for the list of foods above. We will be leaving in early September for our third time in Southern Africa. I'm not an expert yet, however, these are our must-have, must-bring items for a pleasant trip. Some things we are bringing with us from CA, such as coffee and tea, because we like what we like and we are that spoiled! bTWColeman makes a great foldable toaster to put atop the gas burner. We have used it with great success every trip and it makes dry bread more appealing. We are renting a Toyota Hilux 4x4 in Windhoek and will do a 38 day loop starting in KTP, CKGR, the pans, Moremi, Caprivi, Etosha. So my DH is doubting at all this will fit into our luggage. HA, and he is the master packer. I will let HIM figure that out.

That is a comprehensive list but sounds like 2 cases per person!
How much does all that weigh?
I could use that to fill up a vehicle for a trip leaving from home in S.A.

Don't know about the weight yet. We may have to do without some heavier things. We get to check 23 kg pp for free coming from the US. The rest will go into two duffel bags, our carry-on, and two backpacks, our "personal Item".
