Thanks for all this info and the gorgeous pix, Augrabies Guru, we have wanted to see the park for a while but after browsing through this we will definitely make it a priority, hopefully this year in August. As a matter if interest, from the point of view of the falls looking good and the weather not being too hot, what would you recommend as the best time to visit?

Hi suzi-k,Welcome to the forum and my apologies for only answering now,have been on leave for a while.
It would really be up to you with preferences between cold and warm,because this is what you will get here cold in winter and hot in summer.
Game viewing,densities of animals are low and this is something which you can expect throughout the year,chances are there that you may see animals,just went out early and perhaps on a night drive.
Midges are also irritating during summer months,a repellent or a net over the head will keep them off.
The falls can also be look at during night time, this was also done for the heat during the day.

Augrabies Guru! We have been at Augrabies on 6 March 2013, and were amazed by the beauty of the area! Since we only spent one night to see what it is all about, we didn't see Leopard or Bats, but you will have to read our upcoming trip report to take note of what we saw!

All I can say is that we were VERY impressed with the area, the camp, the restaurant, the chalet, everything! We will be back!

@ Philip1,thanks a lot, the chicks of the sugar birds did not make it,think baboons get a hold of them.

@ Hilda,WOW!Thanks,the air is actually filled every night with bats,hundreds of them,last night coming from a drive I find one of them in front of the house,fighting of some ants.
I'm just glad that this area has left such a good impression with you and look forward to your next visit,unfortunately due to the truck which was not here,I also take advantage to took a few days off.

WOW!!! That's great Augrabies Guru! Awesome pictures!

We will definitely go to watch it next year (2014) when we return during April for a three night stay!
