We hope to book for August 2015
To confirm what I think I've read on the forum: 1) Is it now tar all the way to the park from Uppington?
2) Do the chalets/bungalows at the 3 main camps all have freezers?
3) On Sanparks it says; Grootkolk... Sedan
Urikaruus... Passenger vehichle
Kieliekrankie... will be by Passenger vehicle
do these all mean the same and am I correct in thinking we can hire a SUV (not 4x4) to access any of these?
4) Do the tents have pots, plates etc.?
We are lucky to be able to, and have the need to, visit Kruger each year from the UK. It is the easy option compared to KTP as we can maximise our time in a park. But we have decided for 2015 we will try to get a booking in KTP. We will just have to save for the extra flight and ignore the wasted day at Joey airport on return due to flight times. And I will have to find a signal in while in Kruger this year to make my booking.
Thanks for any help

Hi jacquiiandphil,
It is tar all the way to TR.
All the camps have fridges with freezer compartments and are fully equiped with crockery etc,but we usually take a picnic set for lunchtime stops.
All camps except Gharagab and Bitterpan are accessible to normal cars but a SUV type vehicle gives a better ride on the corrugations/bumps.
Rather than flying to Upington have you considered driving from Jo'berg with a stopover in Mokala?
We did this this last April and it worked well.Our itinerary was;
Arrive Jo'berg early morning, drive to Mokala via Kimberly (approx 5 hours)
2 nights Mosu lodge.
Drive upington,1 night riverside lodge.(3hours)
Shopping,then up to KTP.(3hours)
9 nights in KTP
Leave early and stop in Kathu for night(5 hours)
Leave after breakfast to Jo'berg (6 hours)
Overnight flight home.
Happy planning,

AUGUST well that's when all the spring flowers are out from Cape town up the west coast sooooo why don't you fly to Cape Town and stay at the WCNP for two nights and go into the postberg section of the park ( amazing flowers and lots of buck) then travel up through Namaqualand to springbok area and spend another night .. again looking at flowers then onto Augrabies to admire the falls and then through Upington to KTP .. We have a SUV and its perfect for KTP .. just a few places a 4x4 is needed .... Travel back via Calvinia /Tankwa National park through Ceres Back to CT ... marvelous scenery .. Just my 2 cents worth
