No matter what time of the year it is always awesome to come to KTP

We have been there in May once (freezing cold...) and all our other stays have been in November (4th stay in a row now ).
And all of them were awesome!!!!
We have never been there in December, partly as we are not able to get leave then and partly as we wanted to avoid South African school holidays...
Maybe ask Caracal about it, she is in KTP in December frequently ....

But whatever time of the year you choose, it will be great

I visited your site again and, just for fun, tried the video. Lo and behold - it worked!! The videos are truly amazing. Having been to Grootkolk, I can imagine the scale of things - i.e. just how close they were!

You had just a stunning trip...your photographs of this hyena/ardvaark encounter were just so clear and vivid...so envious...superb...love the photo of the little one on top of the kill...it was so brave..not.
Yes, we were the next vehicle to arrive...we spotted the family up on the hill...then they had a little tiff...too cute to listen to the babe attempting to whoop...and thankfully brought the kill back down in front of the den....will post those photos soon...Thanks for confirming with us what the kill was...we do have a couple of photos which gave us a clue, but we couldn't believe the result!
You just had an amazing trip...how on earth will you top that one??? Ha..but I'm sure you will have fun trying!!!!

I just finished reading your TR till date and I thought you really was fortunate with your sightings till I read this. Now I'm really p-off!! Good gracious you were real lucky fishes. I'm so green!!

Well it just shows, you never know what Africa can dish up for you, right time, right place and anything is possible. Luckily the loo was also at the right place during your 24hr lion hostage ordeal!!

katydownunder, I've read this thread without posting, but I wanted to share it with Mrs. Stark. She's just as amazed with your sightings as the rest of us.

One thing she said that struck a chord with me... "Hats off to the fence installers!". Indeedy. Their work stood up to a lion kill!

I only came accross this thread now for the first time ever.

Unbelievable. The most amazing I have ever seen.

Indeed a sighting only KTP can deliver...
After that experinece I think it's a good rule that children under 12 are not allowed in the Wilderness Camps, although this means for you, that you have to wait a long while before returning...

Indeed what a fence, I don't want to imagine where the Lions would have ended with the Hartebeest without the fence.
