Maybe there are no sightings at the moment?????
Or is everyone so busy being at the sightings watching pangolins, HBs, caracals and so on that there is no time left for posting????

Would be great to have an update :D

I have seen the hunting combination and strategy of the Honey Badger and the Pale Chanting Goshawks many times in the past and should you ever be looking specifically for a Honey Badger . . . a clear sign of its presence will always be one or two Pale Chanting Goshawks hanging around in the lower branches of a thorn tree or shrub somewhere.

The reason for this action being that the Honey Badger will dig any mouse’s hole . . . with the panicking mice then escaping from their emergency exits . . . right into the claws of the waiting Goshawks.

On the by-pass of the 14th borehole we witnessed a very similar but strange scenario . . . with the difference being that this time it was two black backed jackal that accompanied the Honey Badger . . . they were actually in front of the badger all the time and were scouting every little bush as if they were pointing out the mouse holes . The Honey Badger relentlessly followed them with his digging ability . . . as if he was trusting the jackal (maybe) with better sense of smell and eyesight . . . not knowing that the latter are taking the escaping mice from the emergency exits !

It was during this approx 30 minutes that we watched this operation . . . when the jackal startled an African Wild Cat. The furry friend leaped into the air . . . and on landing . . . it was already in the highest gear for take-off. A massive chase ensued with the cat leading, the two jackal in close pursuit . . . and the slow and cumbersome Honey Badger some 20—30 meters behind. This whole procession (at max speed) crossed the road right in front of our vehicle. Indeed a very funny, but great sighting in the end.

Just returned from an amazing trip to KTP! (01 sept-5 MM, 5-12 sept Nossob, Polentswa and Rooiputs)
Quick recap of what is were in the park for those going soon, but as we all know, you can drive the same road and see nothing and the next day see everything!
There are 3 male lions in the MM area, 2 young cheetah working together and a mother with 3 sub-adult cubs near Dalkieth (we managed to see her catch a springbok at about 5pm) Remember she needs to feed those cubs everyday!
At Nossob we were lucky enough to see a pride of 10 lion between Kwang and Cubitjie Quap. Looks like they are hanging around the Nossob hide, oh to be there now and hear them at night! There was also a cheetah mom with two older cubs, stalking springbok at the nossob hide on the same day we saw the lion (mon/tues). About a week ago two or 3 lion were roaring from the Nossob camp fence and then made their way down to Marie se draai.

We saw a spotted hyena and a three brown hyena near Leeuwdril. The dens must be nearby. And a cape fox near Kij Kij, about 500m from the waterhole on the way south, lying in the sun, so I'm sure its den is nearby too.
