Hi Herman,

Got back from KTP on 4 July. Went via N12 past Wolmaransstad and on to Schweizer Reyneke(There are various road works and quite a long gravel section) then Vryburg. Between Vryburg and Kuruman are a few stop and go's.

On return took N14 from Vryburg to Delareyville. From Delalreyville at least 3 long stop and go's

Cant comment on the road between Wolmaranstad and Kimberley.

I think one just has to be prepared for the stop and go's. (At least you can get out and stretch your legs)

Either way you know your going to a wonderful place and that should keep a smile on your face.

Good luck and enjoy!

Hi Herman,

I regularly drive the N12 Wolmaransstad / Kimberley route (my parents live in that area of the of the North West province) and it is a joy compared with most of the other roads in the Pothole province.

Hi All, we are going to KTP in November 2013. We have been to KTP in all the months from May to September and also in February. In September we experienced strong winds. What could we expect in November? Winds and rain?

Thanks BB.
Heat is ok, rain is less ok and dust even less!
But last year September we had a lot of wind and sand / dust, so will survive! Was in a tent then and also tent next month.

Nyala,

At least after the dust comes rain followed by a few cool days of below 35 deg C.

Except for the dune camps (4x4 Eco Trail) we had relative pleasant weather early Dec and will visit again this year.

Hi everybody !

We come to KTP in November; Is it possible to drive from Mata-Mata to Nossob on a direct road?
Or do we have to go south to Urikaruus, and then east to Dirkbaarskolk and then north to Nossob?
so, how long is it?
Any other option ?
Thank you for your help !

@pimprenelle83.Welcome to the forum.

The shortest route from Mata Mata to Nossob is as you have described it.
South from Mata Mata past Urikaruus to the upper dune via Dikbaardskolk then north to Nossob.

This should take at least 5 hours depending on what you see along the way and how fast you drive.

The route from Nossob to Mata Mata via Bitterpan is one way only leaving from Nossob, with at least one night to be spent at Bitterpan.

As to other options driving from Mata Mata to Nossob, you could go all the way south to Auchterlonie then onto the lower dune road to Kij Kij then north to Nossob.
This will take at least 8 hours.

The great thing about November is that the gates open at 5.30am and close at 19.30pm.
So lots of time to spend getting from one camp to another.

Enjoy your trip.

Many thanks for your confirmation, Enrico !
Was not sure wether it was allowed to go to Nossob via Bitterpan or if there was an other road northward (which 'd have been the best of all !)
Think we'll choose the option via dikbaardskolk

We want to book for a midnight drive at TR on 31 December. I rather want to do it now - in advance - as I reckon it may be quite popular for that evening. I did send a pm to Kgalagadi Guru, probably about 2 months ago - but I haven't received a response yet. Any other idea or e-mail address or something I can use to book it already?
