Hi Lionspoon,

Yup still here, leaving tomorrow sadly.

Sightings were low during the rain, and we did not
See 1 big cat during 6 days at Nossob (we were there
Right through the rain).
We have had luck with 4 cheetah sightings yesterday and today,
With a cheetah kill this morning near
Kamqua.

Only 3 lion sightings for two weeks is not
Usual kalahari, but the rain was most needed.

There is a fair bit of green grass that has sprung up in areas,
With some bulby type of plants that seem to be sprouting,
The trees ans shrubs also look a lot "fresher".
I doubt that the grass will get long,
But the small amount of growth will at least allow the game to build
Up some fat for the winter.

You can have some of our lion sightings, if I can get some of your cheetah.

Shame you gotta leave as well but hope you enjoy your last night and
wishing you and your family safe travels back home.

I had some heavy rain the two last days before I left (30 and 31.3) and again beautiful sunshine on the first of April and a lot of new flowers

I am so glad to hear that the grass and plants are growing and hope very much that it will be enough to get the animals over the winter.
It is great to get all these updates from you.

Good heavens  - that is a heck of a lot of water ... did you wake up and think it was a particularly nasty April Fools joke perhaps ?

Welcome to the forum gemsbokhorn.

The MM campsite is the lowest part of the camp, so you get the runoff too.

'Luckily' the stormwind blew my 2 man tent in 2 years ago, so I packed the lot into the bakkie just before the rain hit and slept inside it, because I found the same sort of flooding in the morning.
Whatever (according to BB): "You are correct but I don't want to admit it".

I need to decide on my end of year trip! Has the April rain resulted in some improvement of the grazing or was it too late? :hmz:
