LekkerouJan,

Welcome to the forum, hope yoy willhave a great time here.

Relaxevous,

There is also a kids activity book available at the reception, maybe you should get one as it will keep kids busy for a long time and there is very usefull information in there and they can learn something from it as well.

Will do KG. Also could you PM me on where I can get a copy of your book. I wouldn't mind a read off of it before we fly over.
Thanks,
Tim.

Anyone know if we can get a local babysitter in TR, (someone experienced and good with kids) Reading all of Moose's reports has our mouths watering for a night drive and my wife and I would like to go on the same one rather than she stay in camp the first night, and I stay the second night. Can't wait. Only 8 weeks to go. :D

Relaxevous,

Sorry for only replying now. Regarding the question about a babysitter, we do have some of the staff which on a regular basis does assist and you are more than welcome to ask at reception for the services of such a lady and they will be able to assist.

Hi there JaniceE,

Thanks so much for the offer and the warm clothing. You are more than welcome to ask reception to contact me and I i will come and pick it up from you and thank you in person

KG

Cheers KG. that sounds great. I'll mention it when we check in. Some of the sunset drives and night drives sound amazing so it would be great for myself and the missus to be able to go on the same one.

Hi all,
Two weeks to go. Yippee.
Have a very important question. Can I buy a bucket and spade for the small one in TR or in the PnP in Upington? Otherwise it has to travel Cork Amsterdam JoBurg Upington.
Also can you charge a laptop in the Chalets in Mata mata. I think I read that there are no charging points in Nossob but can't remember about Nossob.
Does the KTC camp have blankets or do you provide them yourself.
My next question is a bit of a silly one but anyone who has been on a game drive with my wife will tell you it's important. What type of coffee making facilities are in the chalets. She can slum it with instant if necessary but if there are carafes or one of those hob coffee pots all the better.
Cheers. This email sounds like we would be better off going to disneyworld but if I can get the small things right it means happy family and so much longer game drives.

welcome to the forum relaxez-vous :D

I think you can buy bucket and spade at Upington, PnP or other
We can charge batteries (and laptop) at TR 24x24, at Nossob and Mata Mata from 5h00 to 21h30
For coffee I use water and instant powder...
There is blankets in all the camps... normaly

enjoy... enjoy Kgalagadi
in two weeks

Hi Relaxevous :D

I think to be on the safe side buy your bucket and spade in Upington - just come back from KTP but can't remember seeing anything like that for sale in the shop at TR ...

All chalets usually have extra blankets in the cupboards and you should be able to charge laptops etc at MM - until about 9.30 as anne-marie says when the generator goes off till early morning...

As for coffee - honestly, I know how horrible coffee can make you unhappy so I completely understand - the chalets at TR, Nossob and MM only have an electric kettle - dont know about the other wilderness camps, sorry so if you are stopping at PnP in Upington maybe invest in a cheapish plunger-type coffee maker and a flask and stock up on some decent coffee for the plunger - might just make all the difference

Have a WONDERFUL trip - sightings continue to be fantastic at the moment

Thanks for the replys folks.
I'm glad to here about the blankets and charging Anne-Marie. We use our small laptop as a file dump every evening so I'm glad to hear we can keep it topped up. Plus the small one can get her Barney fix every evening. :)
Will pick up a plunger in Upington. Thanks Scouter.
It's great to here the sighting are so good at the moment. The camera traps near TR were great to look at this week (Thanks KG).
It's getting really close now. Hopefully I'll have to take an extra days leave when we return because we'll have so much to report. Well, fingers crossed anyway.

Thanks again, all of you.

Hello again Relaxevous -- you must be getting really excited now too

anne-marie & Scouter have answered your questions -- just a note on KTC. The stove is gas -- no electricity there -- and you will find a spare duvet or blanket in the large wooden chest behind the bedroom door

Have a wonderful trip

PS Don't forget to make the coffee with bottled water you brought in yourself -- otherwise it will be "interesting"

Thanks P@M,
We will be putting your menu tips to good use this week. We are landing on a Sunday so the Butchery in the PnP is going to have the meat ready to go for us. Can't wait for the KTC. I'm not sure how noisey the fenced camps are in the evening but the idea of putting the small one to bed and sitting out with a sun downer in the peace and quiet of the KTC sounds like heaven.
Someone mentioned a place on the way up to get braai wood at. I'm hoping they don't close on Sundays :D so we will bring enough wood and a bag of Charcol to keep us going and we can alway pick up an extra bundle in the park if we run low. Mrs R has most of the shopping list finished so I will add 1o0lt of water to cover the coffee/drinking water and baby stuff.
Thanks again all for the tips.

Hi there Relaxevous,

You have received great tips from the mites for your visit to the park. Please let me know as soon as you arrive I would like to come and say hi.

Regarding the Spade in bucket...for sure you need to have one as the little one will have the largest sand pit to play in and it does keep them busy for a very long time....I’m talking out of experience as our little one absolutely love being out in the sand.

Great idea to get wood from outside the park since the wood inside the park can be rather expensive.

Have a save flight and we will see you soon
.

Regards

KG

Will do KG,
It will be nice to put a face to the name and thank you in person for all the tips and pics over the last 5 months.
I better stop hogging the sticky thread though.
