some news of Caster... my huntress

On 10 November I saw another female with 4 cubs 5 km North of Kaspersdraai (18 km South of Nossob). So maybe there are even 16 cubs in the park? Photos are here.

Stunning photos Katja - thank you - so definately at least 16 cubs - fantastic news !! Lisette's cubs are 10 months old now according to Dr Mills and these are definately much younger

Wow Katja, you were SO lucky with your cheetah and cub sightings!! With the excitement which I am sure you had when coming across these beautiful small cubs you still managed to capture some awesome shots. Well Done!! Lucky you

I'm not sure if there is another topic like this and if there is I’m sorry for duplicating it!!
I wanted to start this topic so that everybody on the forum can talk about all the cheetahs in the park also wanted to post a photo with this but sadly my photo up loader doesn’t want to co operate.

The photo I wanted to post was of a young cheetah cub in the Auob riverbed, he/she is very thin and this other 2 siblings are in the same condition didn’t take the photo myself a friend took it last week while in the park!!If anybody knows about them please let me know.ps the mother had a collar on!!!!

I will be going to the park this Friday let me know if I should be on the lookout for any special cheetahs.

Hi BG - hope you have an amazing stay as always. We have been home just over a week and there are LOTS of cheetahs and cubs in the park at the moment - at least 2 sets of moms (both collared I think) with 3 large cubs each that we saw many times between Leeuwdrill and Kij Kij and also up near MM we saw Elena (collared but she has lost her last cub) as well as Caster - no collar but 2 big cubs and Lisette - collared with 4 10 month old cubs.

I've once read through the entire thread that Duke refers to, and though very interesting, I had to take extensive notes and copy pics into a word doc to try and make sense of who's who ( cheetah-wise) in the park (and of how they are related to one another). Already there are new names mentioned, e.g. Caster, and what has happened to Elena an Lisette's cubs of a couple of welping seasons back....Simon and Garfunkel, and what was Lisette's 2 girls' names....(imagine a puzzled smiley hee, I've yet to figure out how the mobile site's smileys work....).

Isn't there someone out there who has followed the Kgalagadi cheetah story all the way and can produce a sort of 'family tree' (with pics where possible) for the rest of us plebs to refer to when reading about the updates in the thread that Duke Ellieton refers to?

The cheetah that Bibronsgecko wrote about in the first post, it had two siblings and their mom was collared. Pic taken by Kobus Saayman, in the Auob riverbed.

I saw this collared cheetah with two quite young cubs south of Huomoed on 10 November 2012. They were far away on the far side of the riverbed, so these pix are very cropped, plus I apologise for the strange colour, somehow I had inadvertently switched my camera to a tungsten setting

I had thought that none of the KTP cheetahs still had collars, so I'm wondering if anyone has any idea which cheetah mum this might be?

. which one could still have a collar, one year after... and 2 cubs, so far South
I saw one around Houmoed, alone, in October and it seems not collared, also far away
I will again have a look at my pictures

it seems to me that mine was also collared...but alone and maybe under the same tree

like you said she was far away and I was "disturbed" by 2 people out of their car... to have a picture of the cat

a superb good new... will search for these three too... in few days

Interesting that you may also have seen this collared cheetah, anne-marie. Perhaps Jannie will know which one she is?
