The areas you have mentioned Dabchick is indeed very good for predators in the Aoub River. Eachj season has its hot spots.

I actually chose those spots for the the nice bird sightings I had there  , but I'll never say no to a nice spotted cat sighting or two

I agree, the Aoub is great for raptors. The last few weeks the spotted cats have shown themselves quite a lot in that area. I believe that if you drive slow and take your time-like while bird watching the cats and other special Kalahari creatures will reveal them to those who are patient.

Favorite - sitting on a balcony at Urikaruus at sunset

Least favorite - probably more hard feelings than anything else....but Marie's Draai......as mentioned previously, a traffic jam IF something is seen.......and in 7 trips to the park.....have yet to see a cat other than a wild cat on a road that most people seem to fall over lions on??!!!! :?

Best spot besides Marie's, Kij Kij, Cubitjie Quap, 13th ,14th Urikaruus, Grootkolk... I can go on ........ is the entrance gate as we arrive at Twee Rivieren. :D :D

( It's also the worst spot as we leave!! :( )

Hi G

You are right - my favourite sighting is the "welcome greetings" of the entrance gate of Twee Rivieren. Then I know I've arrived!

Jannie, I have’nt been on the Forums for many months . . . and I was looking some through some postings of a couple of years back, when I came across a remark within a posting dated 21st December 2007 . . . where you responded on a topic of favourate spots by of Bush Baptist “ . . . and to add to the above-, my absolute favourite year-round spot is Bayip . . . “

Now where is this place . . . I simply don’t seem to recall.

In our trip-pictorial of 2009 http://www.reddune.info , there is a nice photograph of waterhole to the north of Nossob . . . which could be Bayip, but I am not sure.

I still feel very strong about our own personal favourate spot . . . viewing the Cubitji Cap water hole in late afternoon . . . from the shade of that couple of young Camel Thorn trees on the Western side.

Go well and I trust that one of the best-kept-secrets in the KTP is soon to become a reality to the joy of many !

Seems to me it is still a secret.

The posting referred to might have been from the guy who took over from me when I left in 2007. I do have a few favourite spots, and every day there is just more to add.
