Thanks for sharing the good news wanderw. I'm planning to take and American friend and his wife to the park in April next year and hopefully I'm lucky this time - with my success rate on leopards in KTP anything is possible

Thanks for the great news wanderw :D
Debs and I saw this chap just north of Urikaruus when we were up there in May. I wonder if he is the leopard everyone has been seeing at the waterhole at Urikaruus?
He has a line of about 4 spots going back from his left eye!

Hi Gavin
I don't think this is the Urikarius male - I will post a few pix tonight, although my pix are not clear. Maybe someone else can help out with a pic of the U male? I think you and Debbie have found a different (stunning) male leopard!

U also has a female leopard who comes to drink!

Edited: Houmoed Male - leopard no. 8 on pages 19/20 of the ID Booklet.

These 2 pix were taken in 2006 about a km south of Urikaruus - a big male! He has 3 dots right in the outside corner of his left eye. GavinW ‘s leopard has 2 dots in the corner of his eye - above the line of 4 dots Gavin mentioned - so I believe they are 2 different leopards. Now..... which one is the Urikaruus male? :hmz:

Hi all

This thread really wants to make me cry! I have never even seen a leopard in the Kgalagadi (done about 7 or 8 trips!), let alone get the chance to take a good photo of one!

There are some stunning photos which have been submitted here. Hence me wanting to cry!

It is a really interesting thread with some wonderful information.

We will be in the park again very very soon - arriving on 5 Feb for 10 days. Hopefully this will be the trip! I have chosen to spend my 50th birthday in the park in the hope that my birthday present will be a leopard in a tree!

Hopefully I will be able to post a few photos when I get back from this trip!

Thanks for a really great forum.

See you.
