Thanks very much for the replies!!
Is there somebody else who maybe have pics of these two? Luv to see.
Maybe Jannie can tell us more about brandmarks on certain lions.
The brandmark on the blonde male lion was a T and not a 7, sorry!!
Have a nice weekend.

Morning all,

@Dwyka3,

Welcome to the Forum, hope you will have a great time here.

The two males you refer to in your pictures have been hanging around in the southern part for quite a while now, they are normally seen from Leeuwdrill to Houmoed.
The brand marks on the lions you see on some of the lions in the park are those of lions who have transgressed outside the park.
Once they were darted and brought back into the park they are brand marked so that management can keep record on the lions which leaves the park. Each lion which has to be brought back will have a different brand mark for identification purposes.

KG

These look amazingly like the 2 brothers we saw at the picnic site, junction of the North Dunes Road as it reaches the Nossob river valley. In fact I am pretty certain it is them. But that is a long way !!! We saw them about 22 March 2012.
What stunned us was the size of the elder brother. When he stood up we were taken aback. tallest lion I have ever seen.

Any pics of the two male lions you saw?! Would luv to see!
If it is the same lions, I agree with you, the blonder of the two was eeennnooormous!!
When he stood up behind the bushes, I was speechless, never have I seen a bigger one!!
Absolutely gorgeous, very high on the legs, quite lean at the time.
Maybe they are nomads roaming around looking for a pride to take over.
Dr. Philip Stander who runs the Desert Lion Project in the Kaokoveld of Namibia,
recorderd that one male lion walked the distance of 90 km in 48 hours!!

Interested in the Desert Lion Project?
The Desert Lion Project had quite a setback recently due to the coldblooded shooting of adult males by trophy hunters. Only about two remained. Three lionesses now have given birth to five cubs and all five
are males! Isn't nature extraordinary? What man has taken out, nature is giving back.
How can you ever look into those yellow eyes and lift a gun?!!

If you or any of the other forum members are interested in the Desert Lion Project, go to:
www.desert lion.com
It is really worthwhile to follow!

This is a very exciting topic! I am sure you have all heard of OUSUS. She is/was (don't know if she is still alive) a female lioness who frequented the Bedinkt waterhole in KTP.

Piet Heymans wrote a book about her "Ousus van die Kalahari" and she was identified by her whiskers. I am not sure, but it was something dot-dot-space-dot.

I cannot find a lot on internet...I am sure the KTP staff will know much more about OUSUS!

LUV THE PHOTOGRAPH! Thank you for sharing!
