Dof - Stupid (Afrikaans) Someone who is dof, is not necessarily that way all the time. It is often used to describe a temporary loss of brain cells.
Dop - Booze, drink (Afrikaans)
DYR - Drop Your Rock, a survival tactic. Particularly useful on a morning walk with your hungover buddies. Pick up a decent sized rock. If chased by something run! If you are up to full speed, "drop your rock"(DYR). This will enable you to run even faster, allowing you to pull out from under your budds, indirectly putting them as a buffer between u and danger.

Renosterbos = literally rhino forest, Elytropappus rhinocerotis
Renosterveld = literally rhino bush. The Mediterranean vegetation type of SA (Mediterranean = wet winters, dry summers). Occurs on richer soils than fynbos in the Western Cape, characterized by rhenosterbos. Sadly, less than 3% of renosterveld remains, as the rest is now farmland. Occurs in TMNP.

Sweep - Sweeping means moving a topic or post out of a topic to the relevant area .. i.e. A Spin-off can be removed from a topic to Chit-Chat for example.

Vetkoek - Traditional Afrikaner pastry (pronounced fet-kook). It is dough deep-fried in cooking oil and either filled with cooked mince or spread with syrup or honey. It is thought to have its origins in Oliebollen (a Dutch pastry), which goes back to the time of the migration period. It is similar in taste to Mexican Sopapillas.
