Further Reading Online

Unread postby saraf » Sun Oct 19, 2014 7:32 pm

Forumite Yodasuggested that we have a place where we can share external websites that are connected to wildlife and conservation in SA. And so this topic came into being.

Please post your links here but please make sure any links comply with the following request:

Anyone posting links must bear in mind the relevant rules that govern the use of this forum, in particular the following:

1. This is a website dedicated to Nature Conservation and travel, in the South African National Parks. All postings must relate to this purpose.
2. Your posting should make a positive or constructive contribution to SANParks, the SANParks Forums, its visitors and potential park visitors.
16. No advertising is allowed in any of the forums or via PM.
18. Only causes that are endorsed and supported by the SANParks' Forum Management may be promoted. Any fundraising initiatives need to be directed to the Virtual Honorary Rangers (VHR@SANParks.org) - the only legally recognized body to conduct such projects on the SANParks Forums.

The last is particularly important when posting links to charities and Non-governmental organisations. The Mods have no real way of knowing or easily finding out if SANParks endorses their policies or not.

The Moderators will remove links they feel are in breach of the rules.

Fabulous idea, Yoda, thank you. :gflower:

Pleased to see my idea was taken on board.
Thanks Mods!

Idea came to mind when I saw the other biodiversity explorer link posted by another mite - Luiperd I think it was.
It's a good website with lots of info on wildelife on it.
Thought it would be a shame if the link/post was lost in the depths of a thread somewhere. So maybe it would be a good idea to have a thread where we could share links to wildlife and conservation based websites.

This website is worth while:

http://www.ispot.org.za/

A website for sharing wildlife and botanical photos
And is also a platform for getting wildlife or plants identified.
(You upload a photo, and other members id something for you.
Or you can contribute by identifying for someone else.)

I regularly just browse and see what other people have seen and photographed.
