GAME RANGER! by Hannes Klopper on the life of Harry Kirkman

Unread postby Kaapsedraai » Mon Sep 23, 2013 10:40 pm

Game ranger! written by Hannes Klopper is about the life of one of the Kruger game rangers in the years 1933 - 1958.
Wonder if anyone had red this book?

I came across this book in second hand bookshop at Kleinmond together with other great books i.e. 'South African Eden' by George Cansdale (about Lt Col Stevenson-Hamilton).

From all the Kruger Game Ranger books I have read or busy reading, it was quite interesting to see in which time periods they lived and managed to do the following summary:
1902-1946 LtCol J Stevenson-Hamilton (South African Eden)
1902-1938? Harry Wolhuter (Memories of a Game Ranger)
1933-1958 Harry Kirkman (Game Ranger!)
1950-1977 Gus Adendorf (Wild Company)
1955-2009+ U. de V.Pienaar (Goue Jare)
1973-1991 Bruce Bryden (Game Ranger remembers)
1980-1991 Kobus Kruger wife Kobie (Mahlangeni and All things wild and wonderful)

Are there any you want to add or recommend?

I love reading about the rangers of Kruger and exploring the history of this miraculous place. I will certainly see if I can get hold of a copy.

I have read all the other books mentioned and I am always astounded at how Kruger almost never was.

yoda,
this is a relative old book and first print in April 1967 and 2nd print November 1967. There is no ISBN no in the book.
The publisher at the time was Janssonius & Heyns. It seems it was before the time of ISBN.
Hope you find a copy.
