If anyone is fortunate enough to see a pangolin, please consider submitting your sighting to the African Pangolin Working Group's database (http://www.pangolin.org.za). The African Pangolin Working Group (APWG) forms the African constituent of the IUCN Species Survival Commission's Pangolin Specialist Group and is dedicated to the conservation of pangolins in Africa. To achieve this, the APWG is compiling a database of the past, present (and future) distribution of all four African pangolin species. All submissions are securely sent to the APWG board, and details of the sightings are not open to members of the public to prevent exploitation of the species. Conservation authorities are welcome to contact the APWG for further information.

The sightings details that we require are: location of the sighting, species, observer and date (if known), although any additional information would also be hugely appreciated. Any pangolin mortalities that are observed should also be reported as we are assessing the magnitude that various threats pose to the species and are developing mitigation measures for these threats.

Good to know that we can participate in research. I saw a Pangolin in Kruger a few years ago and will be posting.
