Interesting to note how the 2 reports differ. In the Afrikaans one it is mentioned that he received meat as a daily ration which he hanged in a tree and when he went back to the tree at lunchtime it was there that the lions met up with him.

The English version states that he went to a store-room to fetch his lunchbox

That's exactly what I said too.

Well maybe you should consider changing your name to Pangaman – sure there was somebody like that in SA’s history – ended up in the electric chair I think. :hmz:

Xitavhudzi Elias aka Pangaman
The second in a long tradition of serial slayers in the township of Atteridgeville, South Africa. In the 1960s Elias Xitavhudzi, known as "Pangaman", murdered 16 white women and dumped their bodies around Atteridgeville.

Quote:
More than 30 years ago the `Pangaman' terrorised couples in cars, cutting off the men's hands and raping the women. One policeman developed an obsession with the case. The exact tally is not known, but he is reputed to have killed the Pangaman seven or eight times before the real killer was caught and hanged. He was a cleaner at national police HQ.

Hanged, not chaired.....

DQ has beaten me to posting the correct info!
I'll have to phone my mother and talk to her about the wrong information she fed me as a child :?

As far as I know, it was somewhere in the region of proclamation hill. Near where the SANP HQ is now. He had informants in SAPD. Did a cool ghost tour the other day in PTA, heard some of these interesting stories. The SAPD museum in PTA used to haev some awesome displays of this oke and his likes.
