Talking of Bird Hides - why is it that some visitors to these hides totally ignore the Silence signs and chatter on in loud voices?
On one occassion, a couple of years ago, we were sitting at Lake Panic Hide on the right hand side, I had a small 6-pack cool box next to me on the bench where a pole was obstructing the view. A couple of JJ's off-loaded their guests who came into the Hide - one of these, a lady, marched up to me and demanded that I move the box so that she could sit down. The fact that a) she would be unable to see anything except the pole and b) that she was about 10 times the size of the box and would, therefore, not fit in - totally escaped her!

PNF the bird hides should be silent places, I agree. What I have noticed is that some visitors to the bird hides do not always understand it for some reason, and most of them do not mean to offend anybody as they can look back at a person with a most "but what have I done wrong" and sorryful look for themselves (not all of them) when you say shhh please. Your description of the lady and the coolbox made me :) or rather :D.

The "lady" that takes FOREVER in the shower, takes over the mirror, takes over the plug (blow drying her hair) to "doll" herself up like she is going to a "red carpet event" to sit in a car the whole day
