Peterpiper, lovely rendition of a contrasting scene.

Painter, magnificent how you have brought poignancy into your painting! This rhino has a plaintiff look of sadness and finality.

Mongoose

Unread postby deefstes » Fri Nov 23, 2012 9:47 am

OK, so I don't have a picture or anything to wow you guys with today but I thought I'd post this here as it seemed vaguely appropriate :D

Another forum that I'm subscribed to, GuitarForum, runs a monthly guitar challenge in which a new theme is set every month and you have to record a 2min song in the given theme. So a few months back the theme was Rock 'n Roll and while it's one thing to get a tune down, it's always a difficult thing, for me at least, to get a nice idea for the lyrics.

I had been visiting Berg-en-Dal and observed a family of Dwarf Mongoose running around, playing, foraging and doing their general Mongoose thing in the middle of the loop round. That is when the idea came to me. Their energy and charisma just seemed so Rock 'n Roll to me at the time so I thought I'd use them as a hook for my song.

So, if you're interested, here's a picture I painted of a Mongoose, not with a fancy Canon 1D as many of the skilled photographers in these forums wield so expertly, but with a Fender Stratocaster :D

Jeepers, thanks for the comments guys. I didn't even realise there were responses in the thread as I didn't get any notifications - maybe because the thread was moved.

LOL Jen, my mother had the good sense to buy me an acoustic guitar. It's only now that I pay my own bills and have my own house (and neighbours) that I'm venturing into the electric world :D

JenB wrote:From the expert panel on this end: "Amazing", "Wow", "Ma, that guy is GOOD", "he's not a guitarist, he's a musician!".

Well, there you go and I love it too! :D

Oh... yes... 'k, sorry. That was not the complete message.
He loves your Fender Stratocaster, has a cheap Chinese copy himself but plays a Gibson Les Paul 71. (Not that I have a cooking clue what I've just said. )

A '71 Gibson Les Paul! Wow! I, in turn, have a cheap Korean copy of that but the real deal when it comes to a Strat. I reckon between him and me we can rule the world
