Hi LL, Lots of reasons. The parks' shops are privatised and need to be profitable, so they would have to add on their cut. I get the kit made here in CT and as much as I love to transport it to Kruger and other parks myself, it is not practical, although a few years ago, before official sanction, I had stock at Tshokwane & Nkuhlu, as I knew the concessionary. I tried with Kgalagadi without success. I also bear any losses made on unsold articles, and if I sent stuff to a shop, that would pass on to them. I have (gladly) agreed to donate 25% of the proceeds of all articles sold to VHR, to whom payment is made locally and they reinburse me. For overseas we find a way.
If anyone else would like beanies, scarves, caps, please pm me.
