My friend's Jack Russel's name is Bliksem, MM, (and he is one) so I think that's quite relevant

Does Dinges also qualify as it is the name of my neighbours’ dog but the husband also comes when the wife call the dog I have noticed perhaps he (the husband) has a similar sounding name, but I guess Gjorgi want us to stick to animal names. Perhaps Muggie (insect) is another word.

I can also think of Aardvark and Aardwolf. :D
Grysbok, Rhebok and Hartebeest!
What about Springbok and Wildebeest.

Gemsbok = Oryx, so no go.
Dassie = Hyrax, so no go.
Aardvark = Antbear, so no go.
Wildebeest = Gnu, so no go.

Sorry for being so pedantic :wall:

Just as well there is no Kaapsteker.......

How about alikreukel, tokoloshe.

Pity snotklap doesn't qualify.....

Interesting in that my Mammal book of Africa doesn't list the Ant Bear, only the Aardvark
and also the Wildebeest is listed as the Black and Blue and the Gnu as only the Brindled and White-tailed! :?
so I wonder what is actually correct for us here. :hmz:

Smithers' "Mammals of Southern Africa" lists antbear. So it must be OK.
